The arts are integral to a Dwight education. There are a variety of opportunities for students to express themselves in theatre, music, film and visual arts. Individualized learning is at the core of the arts at Dwight; we aim to foster self-confidence, a critical awareness and a deep understanding for the place of the arts in today’s contemporary society.

As part of a global community, students at Dwight learn through direct practical experiences the importance of the arts as a means of communication across a range of times and cultures. Students gain a critical awareness of world music, international trends in the creative arts and a broad appreciation for film and theatre from a global perspective.

As an IB World School, through experience, or simply “learning by doing”, the Arts are practiced in the curriculum throughout the Primary Years, Middle Years and the Diploma programmes. Students reflect on their own artistic progress through journals, written tasks and presentations designed to place the arts in a wider critical context throughout the program. Students become not only practitioners, but also develop a discerning eye, a perceptive ear and an appreciation of the arts as a cornerstone of human achievement.

Our students are involved in the the bigger picture on a global level - participation in the 20X20 Dwight touring exhibition, Dwight New York and Carnegie Hall performance tour, Dwight Shanghai Music Festival and, in 2019, the Dwight London Choir Festival. We also travel to the Busan International Film Festival and host a range of events in Seoul.

Our Arts teachers and students also directly benefit from membership and support from the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA), Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) the Arts Society of International Students (ASIS) and the Korean International Music Educators Association (KIMEA).
