Parent Link



The Dwight School Seoul Parent Link is a lively and active part of the classroom and school
community. Parent Link is composed of teacher nominated parent volunteers who represent
each class. A minimum of one English speaker and a maximum of two parents are required per
class. These Parent Link groups are split into Upper School Parent Link and Lower School
Parent link and meet with the Dwight School Seoul Principals monthly.



Parent Link representatives exist as a liaison group between classroom parents,
the teacher and the Principal to help build and maintain a strong and thriving

Parent Link Meetings


Our Upper School Parent Link meet monthly. The meetings take place in the Boardroom, with Upper School Principal, Mr Mark Geraets.

Lower School Parent Link generally meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 9:30 AM. The meetings take place in the Lower School Principal's office, with Lower School Principal, Mr Jason Hayter.

Parent Link Aims


Community Building: Parent Link takes the role of building the school classroom community by regularly liaising with classroom parents and Principals at Dwight School Seoul. PL are also available to listen to and respond to the needs of parents and to point them in the right direction to get help from within the school.
Activities: Parent Link plans and runs activities in conjunction with the classroom teacher and the larger school, which are often linked to the curriculum or whole school PA events.
Consultation: Parent Link are available for Principals to consult with on decision-making that affects the education and care of the children in the school.
New Parents: New parents new will be introduced to Parent Link members to welcome them to the class and have the opportunity to discuss questions or concerns they may have about classroom and school procedural matters.

Parent Link Communications


PL Communication with School: Each Parent Link should be in regular contact with the classroom teacher and their respective Principal to ensure a three-way flow of communication.
PL Communication with Parents: Each Parent Link representative is required to create a unique Parent Link email account from which to communicate with classroom parents and the teacher. All classroom parents should be willing to provide contact details to the Parent Link representative for communication purposes.
Every Parent Link representative should act in good faith and in a manner appropriate to holding an important position within the School.
This position should not be used for personal or political purposes. The position is a conduit between classroom parents, the teacher and the Principal. The position requires balance and professionalism when dealing with sensitive matters, taking into account cultural, language, gender and nationality in an international context.
Each Parent Link representative should be a positive member of their class and a supporter of the Dwight School as a whole. The spread of rumor, gossip or negativity is to be filtered, reported to the Principal and challenged with intercultural awareness and the school’s mission with international mindedness at the very heart of decision making.
Parent Link members should be in regular contact with all parents in the classroom and act as a support to the PA for whole school communications.
Parent Link has the aim of maintaining good classroom parent and teacher communication in order to encourage maximum participation in classroom and whole school events.
