DSS hosts their annual MUN conference
Haemin (G11)

When thinking of the word DAEMUN, Korean speakers may think of it as synonymous to 대문 (大門), or big door. However, within the school’s MUN community, DAEMUN is known as a gateway for Dwight students to support their school by debating on pertinent global issues.

On May 14th, Dwight School Seoul hosted their third annual MUN conference simultaneously with the Spring fair. The conference was led by the MUN team’s Executive Director Mr.Salmon, myself, and my fellow secretariats Fasih and Jessica (G11).

Building off of the foundations laid by DAEMUN II, DAEMUN III added the Economic & Social Council (ECOSOC) and the Security Council (SC) to the previously existing General Assembly (GA), and World Health Organization (WHO). This expansion of committees enabled Dwight to encompass a larger scale conference with a wider array of topics to engage delegates with issues that resonated with their interests.

In order to embody global mindnesses, the secretariats and I invited over 90 delegates from China, Greece, Spain, USA, Qatar, and many other countries to participate in this opportunity to digitally resolve matters such as the Russo-Ukraine conflict and COVID prevention through a myriad of cultural lenses to ultimately secure our future.
